CID - Rio de Janeiro independent labels

Multi-national record labels like EMI's Odeon and Victor established themselves in Rio de Janeiro in the early decades of the 20th Century.

Later on in the late 1950s some of them transfered their major recording studios to Sao Paulo, like RCA Victor that had her main studio on Rua Viridiana.

By the mid-1960s Rio de Janeiro was again at the forefront of a new trend: that of INDEPENDENT LABELS like Equipe, CID, Top-Tape, Tapecar and others.
