Ted Moreno's discography

In August 1958, Todamérica releases Ted Moreno's first record: a 78 rpm single featuring "Boa noite" (Monsueto) b/w "Se alguém telefonar"(Alcyr Pires Vermelho-Jair Amorim).

In August 1958Todamerica releases 'Volte', Ted Moreno's 1st album featuring: "Volte" (Ted Moreno), "Que falem" (T.M.), "Não esqueço" (T.M.), "Não volta mais" (T.M.), "Ouve" (Ted Moreno-Alzira Miguel Pereira), "Meu mundo caiu" (Maysa), "Prece" (Alberto Ribeiro), "Não chora" (Alberto Ribeiro-Sylvio Caldas), "Boa noite" (Monsueto), "Cansada de tudo" (Alberto Ribeiro-Osvaldo Sá), "Se alguém telefonar" (Alcyr Pires Vermelho-Jair Amorim) and "Hino à mulher" (Luiz Antônio-Amado Régis). 
Todamérica thought Ted Moreno was not handsome enough to be on the cover of his 1st album 'Volte'... so they used a fashion-model to fill the gap.

In December 1959, Todamérica releases 'Falemos de amor', Ted Moreno's 2nd album, with orchestration by Guio de Morais: "Falemos de amor" (Alcyr Pires Vermelho-Jair Amorim), "Tédio" (Nazareno de Brito-Fernando César), "Sem você" (Alberto Ribeiro-Alcyr Pires Vermelho), "Nova intriga" (Norival Reis-Jorge Duarte), "Noite de paz" (Dolores Duran), "Noite fria" (Amado Régis-Jarbas Assad), "Aquela mulher" (Cícero Nunes) "Canção de amor" (Chocolate-Elano de Paula), "Poema" (Ted Moreno- Esther Delamare), "Triste sem você" (Ted Moreno-Don Al Bibi), "O mesmo teto" (Ted Moreno) and "Noturno" (Ted Moreno)... This time Todamérica thought it was safe to show Moreno's face on the cover even though he was photographed from the back. The beautiful blonde is Diana Morel (1935-1998) who used to be Moreno's sweetheart at the time.

27 December 1959 - 'Correio da Manhã's Nicodemus & Cia reviews Ted Moreno's 'Falemos de amor' positively. He even hints Todamerica was really sore with Moreno for having left the label and would not 'work' on the record distribution as well as it could. 

4 January 1960 - daily 'Correio da Manhã's columnist Claribalte Passos reviews positively Ted Moreno's 2nd album 'Falemos de amor' released in December 1959. 

In late 1959, Todamérica releases an album with the sound-track of Carlos Hugo Christensen's 'Meus amores no Rio', where Ted Moreno sings: "Risque" (Ary Barroso), "Caminhemos" (Herivelto Martins), "Copacabana" (João de Barro-Alberto Ribeiro), "Relembrando o norte" (Severino Araújo), "Nostalgias" (Juan Carlos Cobián-Enrique Cadícamo) and "Cidade maravilhosa" (André Filho). Orchestration was done by Severino Araújo, 

Before 1959 was over, Polydor releases "Eis Dalva de Andrade" in which Dalva sings "Vou-me embora de ti" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César);  Maysa records  "Um novo céu" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César) for her RGE album 'Maysa canta sucessos'. 

In 1960, Isaura Garcia sings "Receita de saudade" in Odeon's "Saudade querida", while Heleninha Costa records 'Fim' (Ted Moreno-Oscar Griffts) in Todamerica's "Canta Heleninha Costa". 

Ted Moreno signs with Continental Discos, Brazil's leading label and they follow the same directives as Todamérica's hiding Moreno's face from the cover of his 3rd album: "Sambas que a vida escreveu" which contains: "Samba que a vida escreveu" (Ted Moreno-Diva Correia), "Segredo para dois" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César), "Enquanto houve amor" (Ted Moreno), "Carinho e amor" (Tito Madi), "Onde estava eu" (Armando Cavalcanti-Victor Freire), "Mestre Vicente" (Alberto Ribeiro), "Mulher, sempre mulher", "Um nome de mulher" and "Lamento no morro" (Antonio Carlos Jobim-Vinicius de Moraes), "O amor e a Rosa" (Pernambuco-Antônio Maria), "Mundo mau" (Sidney Morais-Julio Rosemberg), "Mudemos de assunto" (Nazareno de Brito-Armando Nunes), "A banca do distinto" (Billy Blanco) and "Céu e mar"(Johnny Alf). 

18 September 1960 - Claribalde Passos reviews Ted Moreno's 4th album in less than 2 years: 'Sambas que a vida escreveu'. Actually, Mr Passos isn't much moved by Miss Telles' oeuvre but praises Mr Moreno's album which he grades as 'ótimo' (very good). 
18 September 1960 - 'Correio da Manhã's columnist Claribalte Passos reviews Dalva de Andrade's album 'Serenata suburbana' in which there is a Ted Moreno's song: 'Ser só'. 

Ted also recorded "Corcovado" (Steve Bernard-Nazareno de Brito), with Severino Filho & his Choir featured in the Continental album "Cidade Maravilhosa", which was a tribute to songwriter Antonio Carlos Jobim and his 10-inch-album ''Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro'', originally recorded in 1956, with  different singers. The orchestration though was done by the original conductor: Radamés Gnattali. 

17 April 1960 - 'Correio da Manhã's pop music columnist Claribalte Passos reviews 'Rio, Cidade Maravilhosa' in which Ted Moreno is featured.

Maysa listens to 'Rio, Cidade Maravilhosa'... and smokes her cig too.. 
In 1960, Ted's version of Ary Barroso's "Canção em tom maior" is featured in the Copacabana album "Festival do Rio - As dez mais lindas canções de amor".

Paulo Molin records "Minha janela" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César) as a 78 rpm single as well as an album track in Mocambo's 'Surpresa'; Valéria records "Novo céu" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César) at Continental Discos and band-leader Edy Luna also records 'Novo céu' in his album "A música que você pediu Nº 2 - Edy Luna, Sua Orquestra e Coro. 

Ted keeps on supplying other artists with songs in 1960: "Samba que a vida escreveu" (T.M.-Diva Correia) and "Segredo para dois" (T.M.-Fernando César) were included in a Radamés Gnattali's album for Continental. Morgana also recorded 'Segredo para dois' at Copacabana. "Ser só" (T.M.-Fernando César) was recorded by Carlos José, Radamés Gnattali, Dalva de Andrade, Vera Lúcia and  by Orquestra Imperial.

Continental 45 rpm extended-play containing: 'Exemplo' sung by Jamelão, 'Esmeralda' by Carlos José, 'Mambo da Cantareira' by Gordurinha and 'Ninguém é de ninguém' sung by Ted Moreno. Cauby Peixoto's version of 'Ninguém é de ninguém' was the one that became a hit, though. 

In 1961, Ted Moreno was signed by Copacabana that released 3 singles: "Tema do Boneco de Palha" (Vera Brasil-Sivan Castelo Neto) / "Ser só" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César); "Canção em tom maior" (Ary Barroso) / "Serenatas" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César); plus "Mais uma vez adeus (Theme from 'Goodbye Again')" (Georges Auric-Dorothy Langdon-Teixeira Filho). 

Still in 1961, "A volta" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César) was recorded by Dalva de Andrade for her Odeon album "Amor e ciúme"; by Morgana for her Copacabana album "Fuga com Morgana" and by Al Newman, & his Orchestra for his Som album "Meu amor... você. 

Before 1961 was over, "Um novo céu" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César) was recorded by Marisa (Gata Mansa) for Copacabana; by Eleonora Diva in Philips' "Eu sou assim" and by Roberto Audi in Copacabana's "Música Para Nós Dois". 


In 1962Copacabana Discos released the album "Receita de saudade" (Ted Moreno), "Amor demais" (Ed Lincoln-Sylvio César), "O tema é solidão" (Edson Borges-Hianto de Almeida), "Canção sem rimas" (Miranda-Maio-Sidney Morais), "Ser só" (Ted-Moreno-Fernando César), "Tema do Boneco de Palha" (Vera Brasil-Sivan Castelo Neto), "Eu e o Rio" (Luiz Antônio), "Brincadeira de saudade" (Ted Moreno-Iná Monjardim), "Rimas de ninguém" (Vera Brasil), "Chorando chorando" (Edson Borges-Armando Cavalcanti), "Serenatas" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César) and "Tema triste" (Waltel-Joluz).

Still in 1962, Ted Moreno sings 2 tracks: 'Vamos balançar' (Carlos Imperial) and 'Teleco-teco n. 1' (Waldir Calmon-Paulo Nunes) in Waldir Calmon's album 'Novo feito para dançar - D' (CLP-11,252).

In 1964, "Penumbra" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César) was included in Helena de Lima's best-selling RGE album "Uma noite no cangaceiro". 
In 1965, Ted was signed by Philips which was at the top label then and recorded "Ted Moreno em 4 tempos", featuring 6 tracks written by himself: "Amor sem dono" (Ted Moreno-Maria Isabel), "Vem" (Ted Moreno-Maria Isabel), "Penumbra" (Ted Moreno-Fernando Cesar), "Minhas Marias" (Ted Moreno-Fernando César), "Carnaval de saudade" (T.M.), "Nós nos veremos" (T.M.), "Consolação" (Baden Powell-Vinicius de Moraes), "Ressurreição dos velhos carnavais" (Lamartine Babo), "Capoeira moça bem" (Jacobina-Osmar Navarro), "Ponto Final" (José Maria de Abreu-Jair Amorim), "O morro está de luto" (Lupicínio Rodrigues) and "Prelúdio do amor sem adeus" (Romeo Nunes-Concessa Lacerda). 

In 1966, "Receita de saudade" (Ted Moreno) was featured in Helena de Lima's RGE album "De Helena de Lima aos seus amigos". 

In 1978, Carlos Galhardo recorded "Maria, Maria" (T.M.-Romeu Nunes) in Odeon's "Parabéns a mim por ter você". 

In 1981, Ted recorded Lupiscinio Rodrigues' "O morro está de luto" for Fontana-Philips.
